Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians activated outfielder Shin-Soo Choo from the 15-day disabled list Thursday. Choo, who was put on the DL August 28 with a left oblique strain, is batting .260 with eight home runs and 36 RBI in 84 games this year. He was also on the DL from June 25 - August 11 with a broken left thumb.

Kipnis, 24, has been out with a right hamstring strain and oblique soreness since August 12. He's hitting .279 with six home runs and 11 RBI in 18 games for Cleveland this season. The Indians also claimed pitcher Jason Rice off waivers from the Oakland Athletics and recalled second baseman Luis Valbuena from Triple-A Columbus.
