06/30/2010 - San Diego, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Scott Hairston went 2-for-5 with four RBI as the San Diego Padres dominated the Colorado Rockies, 13-3, in the finale of a three-game set.

Jerry Hairston Jr. and Everth Cabrera each drove in two runs while Chris Denorfia scored three times for the Padres, who had dropped the first two games of this series.

Clayton Richard (6-4) went seven innings and was charged with just two runs on five hits with a walk and 10 strikeouts. He also drove in two runs in the victory.

Jonathan Herrera drove in two runs while Seth Smith added an RBI double for the Rockies, who have dropped three of their last five. Jeff Francis (2-3) was beat up for eight runs on seven hits with three walks in just three-plus innings of work.

San Diego jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Back-to-back walks to start the inning was followed by an RBI single from Scott Hairston, and after Nick Hundley hit into a double play, Chase Headley beat out an infield single to plate another run.

Colorado, though, got the runs back in the second as with two on and two outs, Herrera punched a two-run double to center to make it a 2-2 game.

The Padres grabbed the lead back in the third on Hundley's RBI single and added six more runs in the fourth to take command of the game.

With two on and no outs, Cabrera chased home a run with a double and that was followed with back-to-back RBI singles from Richard and Jerry Hairston Jr.

That spelled the end of Francis' day and Franklin Morales took over on the hill. Denorfia greeted him with a bunt single to load the bases and Scott Hairston followed with a double to left that cleared the bags for a 9-2 lead.

San Diego continued to pour it on in the sixth with four more runs. Oscar Salazar plated the first run with a single that scored Yorvit Torrealba. With the bases loaded, Cabrera forced home a run with a walk, Richard scored another with a groundout and Jerry Hairston Jr.'s sac fly made it a 13-2 game.

Smith's RBI double in the eighth brought home Dexter Fowler to account for the final score.

Academy Award Betting Odds for Best Picture Offer Great Value

If there is any category that is not an obvious win for any one nominee in this year's Academy Awards, it would be for Best Picture.  Sure the Departed is a 5/7 favorite, but that's hardly anything when we look at Helen Mirren and her "out-of-reach" 1 to 40 odds (which means you would win a whopping $1 for every $40 bet).

For value, take a look at MySportsbook.com Oscars betting odds on my personal favorite, The Queen - a remarkable 12 to 1 long shot.  The film hasn't won any pre-awards for Best Picture (compared to The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine), but there is a tremendous following and it is a strong enough film to warrant a surprise win.

TV Guide advises Oscar watchers should be cautioned not to discount the  drama "Babel" with its strong social themes about overcoming communication gaps among people of different cultures.

"While 'Babel' lost several guild awards to 'Sunshine' and 'Departed,'  it still enjoys loyal support, and historically Oscar voters favor dramas with social messages over comedies like 'Sunshine' and violent crime movies like 'Departed'."

"It hasn't done well in the guilds, which means there isn't much industry support," said Tom O'Neil of awards site TheEnvelope.com, "But several critics are expecting it to win, and that gets my attention." Babel had 7 to 2 odds at press time.

Who is to say independently produced Little Miss Sunshine won't be this year's Crash.  Last year, Crash won for Best Motion Picture, shocking those who bet on gay cowboy flick, Brokeback Mountain, as the favorite to win.
