Hafner was batting .267 with a .368 on-base percentage, nine home runs and 33 RBI in 82 games before landing on the DL with right shoulder inflammation.

To make room on the roster, the Indians optioned Jordan Brown to Triple-A Columbus. Brown batted 7-for-31 in nine games since the beginning of the month.
